No more leaves!

Well, with lots of help from my dad yesterday, the vast majority of the leaves have been cleared away from the yard and the side of the house.  And it only took 50 yard waste bags or so, in total.  It's a relief to have it done before winter arrives, and it was nice to be able to take advantage of the nice weather while it was around.  A cold front passed through last night, and temperatures have fallen back into the 30s and 40s, which is about where they should be this time of year.  Along with the passage of the cold front, we had gusty winds and heavy rain - weather as bad or worse than when the remnants of Hurricane Sandy passed through a couple of weeks ago.  There were a few branches down in the yard this morning, and my rain gauge measured 0.71" of rainfall....about as much as I had in three days from Sandy.  The creek is swollen with the rainwater, and it's approaching the high water mark that I saw from Sandy, with the creek lapping at the base of the dock.  Fortunately, there's no rain in sight for the rest of the week, so the waters will recede harmlessly over the next couple of days without threatening the dock.
