A monolithic stone suddenly appearing in my backyard? Not quite. It's Bill the groundhog, whose interest has been captured by something on the other side of the yard. He stood there, stone still, for a minute or two, allowing me to grab my camera a get one decent shot. Here it is, with some color re-touching:

Acorn Place in the news...
I was recently contacted by the individual who runs the "Walk in the Park" local access show on Ithaca public access TV, and he used some of my photos and video in a recent edition of the show that looked at the flooding across the region in early to mid-August. The content from Acorn Place is relatively early in the video. Check it out!

Picture of the Day: September 4, 2013
The blue skies in the photo above belie the heavy rain that fell last Friday in Freeville. I measured 0.85" for the day. As a result, my dock was mostly underwater. By the old mill dam, the water was raging, as you can see. To take the photo, I carefully climbed onto the old concrete side of the dam and held my camera down close to the water level.
